Old Man Cafe,
Where Texas Meets Bangkok
Texas is over 14,000 kilometers away from Bangkok, but who would think that there is still a glimpse of Texas right here in Bangkok. Today, we are going to introduce Old Man Cafe, a cafe with the taste of countryside that will bring you back to Texas in the 1900s.

Upon entering the cafe, we felt like were stepping in the old U.S. The furniture and decorations like the old Marshall amplifier, Harley Davidson, rusty metal structure, and old lanterns enhanced the sense of old town.
This little Texas cafe is located in Bang Khun Non, not so far away from the Grand Palace. Firstly, we expected country songs and authentic Mexican foods. But it didn't come out that way. The songs are quite modern mainstream and the foods didn't match with our expectation as the cafe actually provides normal foods except the burger that was quite Texas.

This is a Fried combo, our appetizer. The dish blends Thai taste with that of Texas. There were French Fries, Deep-fried New Orleans Wings, Deep-fried Paprika Chicken, and Shrimp Spring Roll. The Shrimp Spring Roll reminded us of Thai taste while the Deep-fried Paprika Chicken quite gave us a sense of Texas.
Our main course, the Old Man Burger Whole Wheat Bun - Pork Burger, didn't let us down. The dish went best with the cafe atmosphere. The overall taste of this burger menu was fine; thick meat, good cheese, but unfortunately the burger was not wholly juicy enough. Also, the bun wasn't so tasty.

All of a sudden, the sun started to set, and that's when the light got dim and the music changed. The vibe became something that we didn't expect from the moment we stepped in. It just began to get very fun and festive, way more enjoyable than in the day time.

We also ordered dessert as you can see from the picture above. The cake was actually very good!! The cocoa powder topped on the cake and the chocolate filling were great. However, the chocolate ice cream was quite so so (Wall’s Ice-cream). Home-made whipped cream was Ming's favorite! Also for Mook, she highly recommended this menu as she liked it very much. The chocolate truffle was very rich. Eating the chocolate truffle with the chocolate ice-cream was a perfect combination that freshened up both of our night. This was so far our unexpected favorite menu at Old Man Cafe.

We also tried a glass of Double Apple Italian Soda, which is a combination of red and green apple. The glass had that sour and sweet taste of the apples. This menu was good, we gave it a thumb up!
This is Ice Cubes with Milk Caramel Coffee, which is a frozen coffee in a form of ice cubes, poured over by whole milk sweetened by caramel. Ming thought that the taste was quite too plain. But for Mook who is not a fan of full-flavored coffee, she felt that the coffee tasted just right.

Finally, we decided to go a little bit extraordinary with Hoegaarden Rosee. The delicate and smooth taste merrily ended our trip.

How to get there?
Taxi seems to be the best alternative way to reach the place. In case you drive, we would recommend you to be prepared by the time you get there due to the inconvenience of the parking space. If you couldn't grab the only paking space, you will have to randomly go to the soi nearby and find your own space to park.
